Patrol Cyclist (40 Hr. ) 5 Day

Law Enforcement & First Responder ONLY
Specifically designed for Law Enforcement and First Responders, the Patrol Cyclist course prepares participants to safely conduct their duties from a mountain bicycle platform. This course focuses on nationally standardized fundamental and advanced mountain biking skills which can be applied to any environment. Our nationally certified Patrol Cyclist Instructors are active or retired law enforcement or first responder personnel who are dedicated to providing professional training. This course includes a combination of pre-class videos and "On-Bike" instruction with built-in review and practice opportunities. Certification Valid for Two (2) years.
Pre-Class Videos:
In order to maximize the opportunities for on bike instruction, a series of videos have been developed to replace the traditional classroom. Participants will receive a video link once registration is complete and must complete the video series BEFORE the class start date. Video topics include Rider Safety, Accident Prevention, Fuel & Hydration, Injury & Prevention, The Importance of Applicable Law & Policy, Equipment Nomenclature, Proper Bike & Equipment Set Up, ABC Quick Check, Rider Fundamentals & Rider Essentials
On Bike Skills include:
Rider Body Positions, Bike / Body Separation, Braking- in a 5 Foot Box, Shifting & Cadence, Riding Straight Lines, Ratcheting, Small Circles, Switchbacks, Rock Dodge, Seated Climb, Standing Climb, Crouched Climb, Climbing Dismount, Restarting on a Climb, Braking on Descents, Descending Dismount, Descending, Steep Descending, Cornering, Track Stand, Front Wheel Lift, ¼ Punch Front Wheel Lift, Rear Wheel Lift, Urban Features, Level Lift, Roll Down, Roll Down Lunge, Descending Stairs, Advanced Braking, High Speed Cornering, Dismounts- Cross Over, Dismounts- Bike Drop, Citizen Contacts & Suspect Contacts.

Patrol Cyclist Recertification (8 Hour) 1 Day
Law Enforcement & First Responder ONLY

The Patrol Cyclist Recertification course is a one day session where each skill is reviewed and rider proficiency is retested. Riders must demonstrate proficiency in each patrol cyclist skill for recertification.
Patrol Cyclist Certification is valid for one (1) year.

Bicycle Crowd Management (40 Hour) 5 Day

Prerequisite: Current Patrol Cyclist Certification
$595 per Participant (Minimum 16)
This course has been designed for for law enforcement and first responders to utilize bicycle squads for managing and/or controlling crowds. Bicycle squads are a highly effective and efficient use of manpower and can be deployed or moved more rapidly than conventional field force contingents. Participants learn various aspects of managing and controlling crowds to include crowd psychology, recognizing crowd behavioral changes, managing vs. controlling crowds, tactical positioning, squad movements & deployment strategies. Additional topics include developing team structures and command considerations.
Patrol Cyclist Certification is valid for one (1) year. The Patrol Cyclist Recertification course is a one day session where each skill is reviewed and rider proficiency is retested. Riders must demonstrate proficiency in each patrol cyclist skill for recertification.
Specific Skills Clinic (8 Hour) 1 Day

Looking to learn the fundamental skills of mountain biking from experienced, nationally certified instructors? Or maybe you want to brush up on your foundational riding skills? This fun one day session focuses on the basics to include safety, equipment, bike-body separation, braking, shifting, climbing, ascending and descending- just to name a few! Classes are held at public parks or trails for a real world application.

Basic Rider Mechanics
$65 per Participant

What's that noise? While there are way too many bicycle configurations to cover it all, this session centers around the most common repairs and adjustments that can be done in the field on most mountain bikes to keep you riding and out of the shop. These workshops are held at public parks or trails, are taught by certified bicycle mechanics and conclude with a short fun ride.....just to check your repairs. Topics include changing tubes & tires, emergency chain repair, brake adjustments, shifter adjustments, proper lubrication, cockpit set up and more. Participants must bring their own bike, 1 tube for their bike and riding safety gear. Basic field tools will be provided for class use.
