FAQ's
Why do courses have a minimum numbers of participants requirement?
Training is expensive especially when you factor in travel, accommodations and compensation for our instructors. The minimum participant requirements are necessary to cover our costs.
What if a course doesn't get the minimum number of participants?
We encourage the hosting agency to publicize the course to other local agencies in order to fill available slots. Additionally, SPC publicizes the event on our website to allow others to enroll in the course. If a course does not meet the minimum number of participants by fourteen (14) calendar days prior to the event, an SPC representative will contact the hosting agency to attempt to resolve the discrepancy. If no resolution can be found, the course will be cancelled, the participants notified via email and any payments received will be refunded to the issuing party within five (5) business days.
Why are there maximum participant requirements?
SPC strives to provide an individualized training experience. By limiting the number of participants we can optimize the personal attention for our students by maintaining a low student to instructor ratio. Our instructors can then provide a more personalized assessment for each skill.
Will I need special equipment for these classes?
Yes. Safety is paramount for a successful class, therefore you will need certain equipment or gear in order to participate. A complete list is provided when you register, however the basic equipment required is an industry approved cycling helmet, mechanically sound mountain bike, flat pedals and appropriate cycling footwear.
Can I host a course on my own?
No. Hosting a course must be done by an authorized employee of a law enforcement or first responder agency.
